History
The university, situated in the centre of Athens and close to the Unesco World Heritage Centre of the Acropolis, originates from an educational institution that was first established in 1929 and gained the status of University in 1990.

The University’s excellent campus facilities houses four academic departments, the central administration, the library, the IT centre and student advisory services.

University Careers Office: Its aim is the development of interactive communication between the University and businesses, where the graduates can work.

Housing services
The accommodation allowance is granted by the relevant tax offices, by presenting a certificate given by the Departments’ secretariats.
Harokopio University does not provide on-campus accommodation. The National Youth Organization (www.ein.gr ) is responsible for applying for residence in dormitories.Library services
Library and Information Center: Its aim is the collection, processing and dissemination of information that relates to relevant scientific areas.
ICT services
Network Operation Center: Its aim is to develop, operate and manage the University’s voice network by providing high quality services to its users.
Medical services
Undergraduate and postgraduate students of Harokopio University, who are not insured in any insurance organisation, are entitled to health care for a maximum period of six (6) years from the date of their first registration. In case of suspension of studies the right of health care is extended accordingly.
Campus life
The main premises of the University are located on 70 Eleftheriou Venizelou Avenue Kallithea. The main building complex is located within a tree – lined urban property of twenty acres, and includes:
- The main building, which was renovated and restored during 1993-1994. Today it includes classrooms, the main auditorium, laboratories as well as all the administrative departments of the University.
- In 2000, the University’s infrastructure was completed by the construction of a new modern building, which includes the Library and Information Centre, the ceremony hall, fully equipped laboratories, classrooms and professors’ offices, mainly of the Department of Geography.
Student clubs
Harokopio University students are constantly rushing with their activities to keep up the youthful spirit of the University. On their own initiative, work and passion, expand and complement the educational nature of the academic community by creating societies that match their interests and concerns. So far the following groups have been operated:
