Founded in 1973, the University of Rijeka has matured into a modern European university and center of excellence whose impact extends beyond the region. In the last few years, the University of Rijeka has been involved in a number of European projects in the field of innovation and knowledge transfer, and is continuously working to strengthen institutional capacities in the aforementioned areas. The central point for issues in the field of innovation and knowledge transfer at the University of Rijeka is the Centre for Innovation Initiatives (CII), which operates within the University Centre for Research and Innovation.
The Career Office provides students of University of Rijeka with professional assistance related to managing their careers, supports them in developing entrepreneurial skills, teaches them how to increase their prospects on the labour market and connects them with potential employers. The Career Office also offers the possibility of both individual and group career counseling to make it easier for students to enter the labour market.

Our university offers some job opportunities, but soft skills development still needs improvement. More workshops and career guidance would better prepare students for the job market ahead, also on the university, more attention should be paid attention for students needs for the future.
It has all the basic things operationally needed for a university to have, however generally it falls short on specific quality of life for students. The program takes a long time to be updated and there are issues with social opportunities for students
The IT department at Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FINKI) offers a very good learning experience, especially through the lab exercises. The labs are well organized, practical, and helpful for understanding the theoretical concepts taught during lectures. Students get the chance to work on real programming tasks and improve their problem-solving skills step by step. The professors and teaching assistants are supportive and usually available when students need help. The curriculum is modern and covers many important areas in computer science, including programming, databases, networks, and software development. The atmosphere is motivating, and students are encouraged to think creatively and work in teams. Overall, the IT program at FINKI is a great choice for anyone interested in technology and programming because it combines strong theoretical knowledge with useful hands-on practice.
