The Tianjin Juilliard School is a joint venture between The Juilliard School, the Tianjin Conservatory of Music (TJCM), and other Chinese partners. The idea for the school began in 2015, and it officially opened in 2020, becoming the first performing arts institution in China to offer a U.S.-accredited Master of Music degree.

Studying in Tianjin offers a chance to experience a different cultural context and potentially learn Mandarin, which can be a valuable skill in the growing Chinese job market. There may also be less competition compared to Western markets, and graduates are well-positioned for a career within China's developing orchestral landscape.
All incoming Tianjin Juilliard graduate students are encouraged to live in the Residence Hall on a bed available basis. The School cannot guarantee housing for all students as a result of limited capacity. Priorities will be given to housing assistantship recipients. All international students are required to live in the Residence Hall.
The Tianjin Juilliard School’s library is a comprehensive resource for performance and research needs. In addition to the extensive collection of scores and books, the library in Tianjin will also provide access to a wide range of subscription databases for audio and video streaming, online reference tools, full texts of journals, selected e-books, and publications.
Located in Tianjin's Binhai New Area, The Tianjin Juilliard School is 350,000 sq. ft. center for performance, practice, research, and interactive exhibitions, with communal spaces that are designed to welcome the public into the creative process and performance of music. The Tianjin Juilliard School enrolled its first class of Pre-College students in 2019 and welcomed its inaugural class of graduate students from 11 countries and regions in 2020.
