Since its foundation in 1966, the University of Konstanz has distinguished itself through its top-level research, excellence in teaching and studies, internationality and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The University of Konstanz is comprised of thirteen departments that are divided into three faculties: the Faculty of Sciences, the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Politics - Law - Economics. According to its original foundation as a reform university, the University of Konstanz does not have institutes or chairs.
The University of Konstanz is a research-oriented reform university that accepts its responsibility to society by providing high-quality research and educational opportunities. It is committed to the basic idea behind a university, in that in order to generate scientific knowledge, close links between research and teaching have to be cultivated. Current and future social challenges are addressed through the university’s research and study programmes.
The University of Konstanz prides itself on providing comprehensive support to its up-and-coming talent. We support all our junior researchers as they transition into academic careers or take on leading roles in industry and society.
We are responsible for many formalities within the student status. These include the continuation of studies (re-registration), leave of absence, end of your studies (exmatriculation) and the collection of tuition and semester fees.
Konstanz is a city with an extraordinary quality of life. Our city and surroundings are popular not only with students, but also with families and outdoor enthusiasts. Since both Switzerland and Lake Constance border Konstanz, the available living space is limited and not always inexpensive.
The Communication, Information, Media Centre (KIM) is the university's central service provider for IT and library services. KIM was created by combining the library, IT Service Centre and administrative IT.
The SysAdmin team is responsible for the departmental computer lab and provides support for all servers and networks.
At the Welcome Center, we can help you find doctors who are able to communicate in languages other than German. Please contact us if you need information about multi-lingual doctors in Konstanz.
