Centrale Nantes

Centrale Nantes celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019. Here are some of the key dates in its foundation and development over the last century. The transformation in 1991 to Ecole Centrale de Nantes reflected a broadening of the curriculum - the school today trains versatile engineers equipped with a strong scientific and technical culture.

Centrale Nantes has a mindset and a mode of operation oriented towards exploration, entrepreneurial spirit and practical application, from theory to the design of solutions adapted to economic challenges and industrial players. Our programmes prompt students to reflect on the major societal challenges of the 21st century. Among these, the three major growth and innovation challenges of energy transition, manufacturing and healthcare emerge and structure the curriculum.

Hotbeds of innovation and open-mindedness, the 6 research laboratories of the school and its 500+ researchers provide strong links with the local and international industrial fabric. They enjoy a reputation for excellence in the world, particularly in naval hydrodynamic, civil engineering, composite materials, robotics and big data analysis. 12 industrial chairs were created and more than 100 contracts are processed annually, in accordance with public bodies, large groups and small to medium sized businesses.
