The University of Burgundy's roots run deep within the history of France. uB's origins date back to the French monarchy, with the founding of the Dijon faculty of law in 1722, at the instigation of King Louis XV of France.


It offers 400 different degrees across all levels (Bachelor, Master and PhD) and enrols 3,000 members of staff and 29,000 students among whom more than 2,300 are international students.

Housing services

Regional Student Centre CROUS offers the opportunity of renting individual rooms either in an accommodation block or in well-furnished apartments to 4,100 students.

  • Students are exempt from paying local housing taxes and can apply for state financial aids for housing.
  • CROUS also offers accommodations in private homes: homestay or private apartment.
  • International degree seeking students: you can apply for a room in a CROUS student residence at the CROUS website.
  • International exchange students: you can book your student room via the International Office online application form for exchange students mobilities.

Library services

The university libraries provide access to books, journals and reviews, e-documents, DVDs, eBooks and to media library with novels, magazines and comics. These collections are adapted to both undergraduate and postgraduate study programmes.

The University Libraries also place at your disposal important electronic documentation:

  • Access to more than 20 Databases
  • Access to more than 53,800 journals

Wireless connections are available on all campuses and in all the University Buildings.

Campus life

The main campus is located in Dijon and is host to 24,000 students. Located 10 minutes away from the city centre, the campus covers 115 hectares full of green open spaces. Several libraries, high quality sports facilities, a thriving cultural centre, a permanent art exhibition, several university restaurants and halls of residence for students, a day nursery as well as 130 lively student associations can be found on campus.

Sports facilities

uB considers athletics to be an essential component in the lives of its students. Our main goal is to maintain uB's status as one of the best universities for athletics in the nation.Sporting associations :

  • SUAPS (Service Universitaire des Activités Physiques et Sportives) : the university service for leisure and sports activities;
  • Regional Community for University Sports;
  • DUC (Dijon University Club) and Sport associations.

The university is affiliated to the Université Bourgogne - Franche-Comté. The European University Association (EUA) is officially accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.
