Since its first years, the UAB strived to set the foundations for a university model based on the respect for the basic principles of autonomy, participation and social commitment.
History
The history of the UAB begins on 6 June 1968, when the decree on the creation of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is officially promulgated. One month later the first four faculties are created: Philosophy and Arts, Medicine, Science and Economics. Teaching activities at the UAB began in October 1968.
Education
UAB offers over 80 bachelor's degrees in all fields of knowledge. Our bachelor's degrees are known for their quality and international character, as well as for the amount of practical experience students acquire.
UAB master's degrees provide you with advanced interdisciplinary training and are divided into programmes offering practical training for employment and others specialising in initiation to research.
Research
The UAB departments are units in charge of organising and developing the activities of the teaching and research staff. Each department corresponds to a field of knowledge and is divided into even more specific areas. The UAB has over sixty departments which cover all disciplines of knowledge.

A PATH NEVER KNEW BEFORE
When I embarked on this double degree I had no expectations on my career, no specific goals nor methodology. Taking lectures of the great of the two disciplines have been so complementary that I did not loose any opportunity while growing up on what career I want to follow!

My experience at UAB
The UAB is honestly a great place to study. The campus is huge and super lively, with tons of green areas and stuff going on all the time. Most professors really know their field and are pretty approachable, which makes classes way easier to handle. Plus, the campus has everything you need libraries, food spots and transport, so daily life flows pretty smoothly. Overall, good vibes, solid academics, and a campus that feels like its own little city.
The Global Student Satisfaction Awards empower students across the globe to determine the best universities of 2025. Universities with a score above 4.0 (out of 5) in any of the 7 award categories, receive Badges of Excellence. Congratulations!
