Politecnico di Milano About

The University, fonded in 1863, has always focused on the quality and innovation of its teaching and research, developing a fruitful relationship with business and productive world by means of experimental research and technological transfer.

History

In 1987 the territorial diffusion process of the University began, the Politecnico Network, which led to the opening of the regional campuses of Como (1987) and Lecco (1989) and of the regional facilities in Cremona (1991), in Mantova (1994) and in Piacenza (1997), with the aim of establishing a more direct relationship with the students and interacting with the community's local businesses.

Education

Increasingly more global and competitive, the labour market is undergoing a moment of far-reaching transformation that urges us onto an accurate reflection around our educational offer in the fields of architecture, design and engineering. It is an assessment that personally involves the teaching staff, suggests new laurea programmes, lends value to the teacher-student interaction, and places new approaches and educational models under the magnifying glass.

Research

In order to identify the competences inside the Departments, Politecnico di Milano uses the European Research Council (ERC)’s panels and their related keywords, that are worldwide recognized. The European Research Council supports frontier research, cross disciplinary proposals and pioneering ideas in new and emerging fields which introduce unconventional and innovative approaches. For the planning and operation of the evaluation of ERC grant proposals by panels, the following panel structure applies.

Every year Politecnico di Milano offers a wide pool of talents ready to enter the job market. Thanks to our Career Service, Italian and international companies can come on campus to meet and recruit students or graduates and to introduce themselves as best employers.

A good start to your studies

I chose this university to start my studies, since I didn't have a very precise idea of what I wanted to do for work in life, but I knew I wanted it to be in the art/design area. It can be a great start to have a general sense of the industry, work in projects with groups of students and skilled teachers, to then specialize with a master's degree.

Top Italian university.

Polimi Is the best university for engineering in Italy, and at the same time the one with the least interest in the students association. Polimi Is too close to external collaboration which are not strictly organised by them. They have a completely different mindset respect to all the other universities in the world. Room for classis are huge, always clean, even if sometimes too crowded. Professors are very experienced and do they are job, but many of them tend to be very boring during lectures. Polimi Is living a renovation period on its campuses, that do provide a fresh air for new students

One of the worst Unis overall.

A lot of fame on programmes, publications, etc. Administration & Burocratic support is on point, everything worked fine. On the side of educational aspects, courses are well below what expected. Professors with a great publications curriculum do not have the same performance in teaching. Additionally, course support by supervisors & senior teaching staff was dismal.
