History
Almost six years later, on February 25, 1967, he, meanwhile Federal Chancellor, accompanied together with his successor Dr. Hans Filbinger founding rector Professor Ludwig Heilmeyer when moving into the Ulmer Kornhaus - at the founding ceremony of the then Medical and Natural Sciences University of Ulm, which was awarded the title "University" on July 4 of the same year.
Education
Four faculties with more than 60 courses look after more than 10,000 students with great commitment. Starting your studies is made easier with the Ulm Training Camp. During your studies there are numerous support offers to meet the different needs of students.
Research
At the University of Ulm, a new research field has even arisen that is being researched by the Quantum Devices and Biology (BioQ) group : Quantum Life Sciences . Researchers want to understand quantum effects in biological systems. and imaging techniques that make the structures and functions of individual biomolecules visible under physiological conditions - in atomic resolution and down to the quantum range. In addition to biomedical research and diagnostics, the pharmaceutical industry and the photovoltaic industry could benefit.

The student advisory service is responsible for questions with a predominantly subject-specific reference. Student advisory service and central student advisory service complement each other and work closely together.

Housing services
The City of Ulm is a friendly and safe place in the South of Germany. It is situated on the Danube River, in between the city Stuttgart and the Bavarian hot spot Munich. 170,000 people live in the city area of Ulm and Neu-Ulm. The region is well-known for its economic strengths and high standard of living. Ulm and the region offer many events among them various traditional customs like “Nabada” – a water festival during the summer time – but also museums, galleries, bars and shopping facilities. Last but not least, the regional “Swabian” food is delicious – enough reasons to come and get to know Ulm and Ulm University!
Library services
Library materials are on open access in the readings rooms and stacks in the central library building (Bibliothekszentrale: BZ) and departmental library Helmholtzstraße (HH). Workspaces are provided in all publicly accessible areas at both library locations.
ICT services
The Portal is the central access point to electronic campus services around study and teaching offered at Ulm University.
Most of these services require authentication with a kiz account. Upon login, the portal – based on the central Identity Management System – provides functions and data that are personalised and user group-dependent.
Medical services
In this research project, healthcare is understood as a medical space in which processes of social inclusion and social exclusion are modeled. Healthcare can connect different groups of a society with a common idea of health and illness. However, it can also influence the social exclusion of minority groups.
Campus life
Ulm and its sister city Neu-Ulm are the economic center of a large region that lies between the Alband Lake Constance. Approximately 180,000 people live in both cities and almost 1,000,000 inhabit theregion of Danube-Iller. Approximately 17,500 young people study in Ulm and Neu-Ulm.
Student clubs
The universities have their own sport office, the Hochschulsportbüro located at Ulm University. It is open for all students of Ulm University, Ulm University of Applied Sciences and the University of Applied Sciences Neu-Ulm.
or almost every course you have to pay a small fee, if you want to participate in the sport programmes. Here are some examples of the offered sports: volleyball, swimming, paragliding, water skiing and so on.
Some of the highlights are the skiing trips to the French Alps (duration: one week) or the sailing club USCU where you can obtain the German sailing licence (compulsory on most of the lakes and seas). Moreover, members have free access to boats on the Ammersee.
