European Humanities University

The mission of the European Humanities University is to facilitate and deepen the contribution that its students, graduates, and faculty can make to the quality and potential of their own lives and to their respective civil societies. By so doing, they contribute to Belarus and its integration into the European and global community. EHU intends to return to Belarus when it is convinced that academic freedom and the independence of the university can be assured.


Founded in Minsk in 1992, EHU became a “university-in-exile” in 2004 after it was shut down by Belarusian authorities for standing up against attempts to undermine its academic freedom.


At EHU, students study art, business, communication, cultural heritage, visual and cultural studies, design, law, philosophy, politics and economy, psychology, public policy, sociology.


Research evolves from education, expression, and collaboration. EHU seeks to identify new research directions and build research initiatives across the disciplines taught at the university. EHU is investing in its faculty to attain higher levels of achievement in every field of study.

Short Courses

Housing services

Student dorms offer accommodations in a three-bed room with a balcony. A majority of the rooms have en suite bathrooms. There is a kitchen on every floor and Internet access is available in each room. Smoking is prohibited in dormitories.

Library services

EHU's library has books and periodicals in electronic and print editions on philosophy, sociology, political science, ethnography, history, cultural studies, arts, journalism, and other humanities and social sciences.

Campus life

EHU's Vilnius campus is located in a building shared with Mykolas Romeris University. Surrounded by forests in the prestigious Antakalnis district, the campus is the ideal setting for reflection and study.
