Warsaw University of Technology

Located in the heart of Europe, Poland, Warsaw University of Technology is not only the oldest, but also the best technical university in the country, specializing in technical and engineering education. In the ranking of Polish universities, it has taken the first place in its category for nine years. About

History

Warsaw University of Technology is the oldest technical university in Poland. Its origins date back to the 19th century: it was founded in 1826 as the first Polish multidisciplinary university of technology. In the beginning, it consisted of 3 faculties: Mathematics, Chemistry, Engineering and Construction. Constantly developing, it became one of the biggest education institution in the country, offering more than 30 fields of studies. 

Education

Our priorities are multi-layered study programs supported by an advanced scientific research. In response to market demands, we offer an exciting range of professional and technological programs which prepare students for their future careers. WUT authorities and the entire academic staff do their best to acquaint the students with up-to-date knowledge and skills which are useful in today’s world. WUT offers programs at B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels in almost every field of technology – ranging from civil engineering and

architecture to mechanical engineering and computer science. We provide also education complementary to technical studies, in the field of economics, management, administration and business. Some of the programs are available in Polish and some in English.

Research

Scientific and research work conducted at Warsaw University of Technology is an answer to the challenges of modern science and economy. WUT not only supports Polish innovators by changing their inventions into companies, but it also initiates cooperation with national and foreign entities. The university is a member of research consortia of outstanding scientists from various universities and scientific institutions and entrepreneurs who wish to implement new technologies. Warsaw Technological Space – WUT Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer Management is an original project subsidized from the European Funds aiming at commercialization of scientific projects and technology transfer.

Career

Students and graduates of Warsaw University of Technology become valued employees at many local and international companies:

  • 61,6% of alumni were employed even before the graduation
  • 36,3% of those currently employed found a job within less than a month
  • 25,7% did not have to look for a job, because employers found them first
  • Graduates are mostly employed at positions of specialists, engineers, managers and executives in IT, architecture, civil engineering, electrical and power engineering sectors.
  • Our dedicated Careers Services team supports students and alumni of WUT in their personal and professional development. Students are welcome to meet Career Advisors, take part in a career coaching session, training courses and networking events.

Services

Student services

International Students Office is responsible for admission process and support for international candidates and students. Throughout the studies, students are also attended and supported by Student Offices specific for each department, the Deans and Coordinators of English studies at Faculties. Other two offices aimed at students are Careers Office and Students Union.

Housing services

Accommodation is offered in 10 university dormitories for a fee of about 150 euro per month, in double or triple rooms. 

Library services

The WUT Library System consists of Main Library located on the main campus which is available for everyone,  as well as local smaller branch libraries at the faculties and in dormitories.

ICT services

  • Wi-fi is available in the main campus area and on some faculties for registered students. There are also computers with wi-fi connection at the disposal of students in the main library. 
  • Students can also gain access to MS office tools for free on their personal computers. Faculties are equipped with computer labs used for particular classes.

Medical services

Healthcare facilities are off campus. Students can sign up for Polish public health insurance for a very good price.

Student Life

Campus life

  • The University buildings are located inside the city. The main Campus is located in the city center, Southern Campus is located 15 minutes away. Buildings of the Faculties are scattered over the area of the campuses. Dormitories are located either next to the campuses or at maximum 30 minutes distance from them.
  • Being located in the city center among other buildings and institutions, it is easy to access all services like canteens, restaurants, cafes, shopping malls, sport and medical centers etc. 

Sports facilities

Students who are obliged to take sport classes can choose from variety of activities and use sport facilities located close to the dormitories. They include sport courts, swimming pools, sports halls for team games, gyms etc.

Student clubs

  • Two main student organizations work every day to make the university a fun and hospitable place: Student Union and Erasmus Student Network. They organize multiple events and activities open for all students, especially international.
  • New students can also participate in Buddy program: be welcomed and supported by a dedicated local student who helps them to settle in once in Warsaw.

Accreditation

WUT holds local and international accreditations specific for each separate program of studies.
