History

  • 1867 - the Vincentian founders purchase three former farms in north-central Brooklyn to serve as the future site of St. John’s College.
  • 1870 - St. John’s College is founded with 47 students and six faculty on Lewis Avenue in Brooklyn.
  • 1954 - Name officially changes to St. John’s University, New York. Construction starts on the St. John Hall, Queens campus.

  • The research activities of St. John’s students and faculty are increasingly diverse and intense: grant dollars continue to rise; publications are flourishing; students are presenting papers at conferences. We have good reason to celebrate our accomplishments. 
  • The Student Research Opportunity Center (SROC) is an area at the main entrance to DAC where there are 2 touch screen monitors that will scroll information about the research opportunities available for students.

Medical services

Students Health Services - We offer free and confidential services to all students on the Queens and Staten Island campuses. You can get treated for minor illnesses and injuries. If there is a need for any additional testing, such as X-rays or blood work, will can assist you in finding an off-campus local health provider.
