Overview
The module will take place at the Synathlon located on the University of Lausanne Campus in Switzerland.
Details of the course
Participants of the Managing Sustainability in Sport course at AISTS (International Academy of Sport Science and Technology) will learn from the speakers and from each other about the various ways of integrating sustainability into the core of their businesses, be it a temporary endeavor such as an event or in their daily operations.
Throughout both days, group work and discussions will challenge the existing ideas of sustainability in sport, with a particular focus on the business case for sustainability while simultaneously addressing the demands of multiple stakeholders.
Programme Structure
Day 1
- On the first day, a case study is discussed in class to explore the key managerial issues and organizational tensions that managers need to address while integrating sustainability aspects in business decision-making. In addition, real examples of sustainability management practices implemented by sport organisations are explored to identify the variety of measures taken by these organizations to embrace sustainability and understand their effectiveness.
Day 2
- On the second day, a specific focus on the most popular measurement and reporting practices for sustainability performances is conducted. This includes an overview of the mostly diffused reporting standards and the key indicators used by sport organisations to disclose publicly about the performance of their activities, as well as those used by the event organisers to disclose about the outcomes achieved.
