The Academic English program at Macquarie University prepares you for academic interactions and study by introducing you to the spoken and written texts and skills you will need for success at university.

We build your language proficiency through our communicative teaching methodology and the latest in digital learning tools with this Academic English program at Macquarie University.

Our 4 levels of Academic English (A1-A4) are designed for students from intermediate to advanced level. Depending on your English level and your goals, you can study Academic English for 5 to 20 weeks.

Opportunities  

After successfully completing Academic English at an appropriate level, you may choose to progress to the Direct Entry program. Our Academic English program can be packaged with Direct Entry.

Programme Structure

  • Foundation Direct Entry

This 10-week program develops the language and academic skills needed to succeed in Foundation through engaging academic content as well as project work. During this program, you will have the opportunity to make new friends and use your English outside the classroom to complete group projects. 

  • Diploma Direct Entry and Intensive Direct Entry  

This 10-week program develops the language and academic skills needed to succeed at Diploma level through engaging academic content as well as project work. This program is also designed to prepare students for the Intensive Program. During this program, you will have the opportunity to make new friends and use your English outside the classroom to complete group projects.
