Throughout the Special FX Make-up course at Arts University Bournemouth, young artists will gain insight into the methods, applications, materials and specialist techniques used in the industry.

- Classes take place in our state-of-the-art make-up studios and are led by experienced tutor Julia Carter, whose professional background includes over 10 years teaching on the BA (Hons) Makeup, Hair and Prosthetics course at AUB. Students will benefit from her industry knowledge, creative guidance and passion for nurturing young talent.

Course content
- Week 1: Induction to the course and health and safety. Black eye, bruising, split lip
- Week 2: Putty work: injuries with stitches, severed finger
- Week 3: Gelatine burns, blisters
- Week 4: Monster makeup, using latex
- Week 5: Wig week with complementary makeup
- Week 6: Animation transformation using prosthetics
- Week 7: Editorial makeup
- Week 8: Final transformation. Open choice using accumulated skills.
