Intro to Filmmaking is a two-day weekend course for students who are passionate about film, TV and online video content and would like to explore different filmmaking crafts in a fun and practical way. This course is suitable for beginners, no previous experience is required.

What you will study

  • Discover the roles of Director, Sound Recordist and Editor
  • Direct professional actors
  • Study script interpretation and storyboard creation
  • Learn the basics of camera operation and how to translate narrative content effectively on-­screen
  • Find out about camera techniques including, how to frame a shot, shot selection and shooting for the edit
  • Get familiar with professional editing software to be able to digitise footage, select and trim shots, adjust sound and create titles
  • Learn how to record clean sound and how to use sound in your edit
