Overview

Focusing on affective disorders (stress, anxiety and depression), the module will enable you to develop and apply these skills within the context of the chosen topics. You will broaden your knowledge and understanding of these affective disorders, recognise different lines of evidence, appreciate the uncertainty, ambiguity and limits of current knowledge, discuss contemporary issues, and evaluate, synthesise and communicate your understanding of these key topics in mental health science.

  • This module can be taken on a stand-alone basis, or as part of a qualification. S826 is the compulsory Stage 1 module in the MSc (F78) and PGDip (E91) in Mental Health Science, and is also available as a core option in our MSc in Science (F12) and MA/MSc Open (F81) programmes.
  • Entry to F78 and E91 will typically require an honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in science or a science-related subject (including psychological sciences, health science, mental health nursing or medicine). Entry to F12 will typically require an honours degree in science. Entry to F81 will typically require a bachelors degree or equivalent qualification relevant to your intended specialist area of study.
