Key facts
- The Cluster of Excellence RESOLV is promoting an international competition named Your Step into Solvation Science aimed to encourage students to develop novel approaches within the field of Solvation Science. This exciting new challenge has been designed specifically to stimulate new, creative ideas.
- Since its inception in 2012, RESOLV aims to build a highly stimulating, opportunity-filled environment, in order to gain and retain talented scientists also from underrepresented groups and countries. RESOLV's mission is to advance the global research environment of Solvation Science, to ensure the rapid transfer of research findings into key innovative technologies and to inspire the scientists of tomorrow.
What Are the Goals of the Challenge?
- This Challenge is aimed to connect highly motivated students with RESOLV as a top-level research environment.
Who May Participate?
- Master and PhD students from national and international institutions with a specialization in natural sciences, medical science or related topic of engineering. There is no age limitation for this challenge.
What Are the Benefits for the Winners?
- Benefits for winners include a three-month fully funded research opportunity at RESOLV, a premier international research environment. You'll develop your scientific and professional skills while bringing your ideas to life. Travel expenses and housing are covered, with flexibility in choosing your research period until August 2025. Winners may also attend the RESOLV Summer School Solvation Science.

- Catalysts for the Electrochem Hydrogenation of Carboxylic Acids
- Femtosec Time-Resolved Spectroscopy of Ion-Solvated Dynamics at Metal Electrolyte Interfaces
- Solubility of supramolecular compounds
- Optimization of phosphines for Pd catalyzed coupling reactions
- Chaperone activity studies in living C. elegans
- H2O ices at cryogenic temps of astrochem. molecules
- Redox flow batteries: organic super-multi electron donors as electrolytes

For your application you will need:

your research proposal (1 page)
- your diploma (Bachelor or Master Degree)
- Prerequisites: Current Master and PhD students with experiences in Natural Sciences, Medical Sciences or related topics of Engineering. Note, Proficiency in English is required
Tuition Fee
- RESOLV sponsors travel and a monthly stipend
Living costs for Bochum
The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
Funding
Winners will receive a funded 3 month research stay in the Ruhrgebiet and a reimbrusement of travel expenses up to a fixed amount.
