About

In this online Window Dressing and Styling short course at the University of the Arts London (UAL), you will learn the core principles of window dressing and styling, and the science behind creating inspiration for your customer. You will build an impressive portfolio of window designs.

Overview

Window dressing and styling is the art of driving retail success by creating displays which engage and excite the customer, and bring them into the store to browse and shop. Understanding visual merchandising theories is the key to creating successful window displays.

In this Window Dressing and Styling course at the University of the Arts London (UAL) you will learn the core principles of window dressing, and the science behind creating inspiration for your customer. You will look at window dressing examples from both high street and designer stores and study the methods of window dressing that they use.

You will develop your designs through the medium of your choice (students in the past have used Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D models and sketching) and receive expert feedback each week on your designs. In weekly online classes you will discuss the importance of window dressing in communicating a brand image, and driving sales.

Outcomes

By the end of the course, you will have built up an impressive portfolio of fashion window designs which can be printed / photographed for display or saved to an online portfolio.
