The Governance in Humanitarian Contexts course at the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education aims to critically analyse the humanitarian architecture, the different humanitarian contexts, and decision-making for WASH through a multi-level governance approach.

Students aiming to diversify their learning pathway with humanitarian WASH knowledge; Professionals from the humanitarian WASH aiming to improve their competencies for career development; Professionals from the water and sanitation sector (private, public or non ­governmental sectors) aiming to expand their expertise to the humanitarian sector. This Governance in Humanitarian Contexts course is offered at the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education.

General requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent. Good command of English language. Preferably with working experience on humanitarian contexts at the local, national or international level.
  • You are required to complete Units 1 to 5 of the Building a Better Response online training before the start of the course. This free training consists of 5 self-paced units covering (some of) the basic humanitarian system structures and should take between 8-10 hours to complete.
