Seafield School of English's NZ Certificate in English Language - Academic (Level 5) programme aims to provide learners with the language competency in academic contexts which will enable their pathway to further high-level tertiary study. It sets out to further advance the learners’ skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing that will enable them to undertake independent learning at a post-graduate, Master’s and doctorate level.

General requirements
- IELTS (Academic): 6.0 with no individual score below 5.5 (within the last 2 years);
- Seafield NZCEL entry test: 6.0 with no individual score below 5.5;
- Seafield English Language Tuition: Upper Intermediate Summative test: Distinction; No section failed. Advanced or Upper Advanced Summative test: Pass; No section failed;
- Pearson’s Test of English: PTE (Academic) score of 50 with no band score lower than 42;
- New Zealand Certificate of English Language: Level 4 (Academic) or Level 4 (General)
- LanguageCert:C1 Expert Official Test Pass; or Seafield LanguageCert C1 Expert Mock Test pass; or
- an equivalent to those listed as meeting entry criteria for a Level 5 qualification on the NZQA Table of Internationally Recognised English Proficiency Outcomes for International Students.
