Overview

What you will study:

The CAS International Competition Law, Regulatory and Compliance program provided by ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences consists of two consecutive modules. The program is diverse employs a range of teaching and learning methods, in particular:

  • Lectures and discussions with renowned industry experts, public authorities, and scholars
  • Practical exercises and case studies
  • Individual and group assignments
  • The languages of instruction are French and English.

After completing the program:

  • you will understand the economic fundamentals as well as the tasks and objectives of antitrust and regulatory law;
  • you will be familiar with the legal framework and legal sources of international competition law and have expanded your expertise in state aid law and public procurement law;
  • you will be able to analyze legal and regulatory issues and assess their impact on your business; and
  • you will understand the importance of compliance programs to minimize antitrust and regulatory risks and be able to develop compliance programs independently.

  • Mergers and market definition
  • Significance and development of market power and its legal limitations
  • Competition agreements, distribution systems, and parallel imports
  • Litigation before competition authorities and courts
  • State economic governance and state aid/ Best practice in procurement
  • Procurement law and state aid law decision practice

Module II Regulatory Law, Economics and Compliance

  • Regulatory developments and economic
  • Market opening and state monopolies
  • Special features of selected regulated industries
  • Interaction with regulatory authorities and regulatory affairs
  • Best practice in the preparation of compliance programs
  • Special features of compliance in public companies
  • Special compliance requirements in regulated markets
