Key facts
The Open University UK's Advanced therapeutic relationships course has been designed to provide advanced knowledge and skills training to support practitioners to evidence new practice-relevant competencies aligned to the SCOPedD framework. The course explores the unique role and function of the therapeutic relationship across its lifespan during psychotherapy with its beginning, middle and end. It adapts a meta-theoretical approach and incorporates latest research evidence.
Programme Structure
Courses include:
- The Beginning will explore important aspects of the therapeutic relationship that need considering during the first session(s) of a therapy.
- The Middle will focus on selected aspects relevant to working with the therapeutic relationship during the core of the therapeutic process.
- The End will consider the different kinds of endings in psychotherapy with respect to the therapeutic relationship.
