Key facts
University of South Africa (UNISA)'s Advanced Course in Security Management on the African Continent within a Global Context is aimed at providing the student with knowledge and skills to assess security threats to developmental programs in Africa on regional, sub-regional and mission level.
The module Managing Security Risks for Public and International Affairs aims to impart specialised skills to identify, respond to and manage risks related to security challenges in Africa and globally.The module Public Violence Prevention aims to impart specialised skills and knowledge to prevent violence in communities as specific security challenge of African societies.Programme Structure
Courses include:
- Contemporary human security threats in selected African countries
- Assess security threats to programmes of the African Union and Regional Economic Communities.
- Assess security threats in a defined operational area of peace missions and diplomatic missions in Africa.
- Contemporary security risks for South African diplomacy in other countries on the African continent.
- Cyber security risks for African countries in a global context.
- Security risk mitigation for public service institutions in Africa.
