About

The Qualitative Data Analysis - Theory and Practice course offered by National University of Singapore introduces participants to the theory, process, protocols and practice of qualitative data analysis.

Overview

What you will study

The Qualitative Data Analysis - Theory and Practice course offered by National University of Singapore will explore qualitative data analysis in the context of a very unique characteristic of qualitative research where data collection and data analysis operate simultaneously in the inductive process of which 'coding' and 'interpretation' are central.

In qualitative research, analysis is conceived as an emergent product of a process of gradual induction. Guided by the data being gathered and the research topic, questions, and evaluative criteria that provide focus, analysis is the fieldworker’s derivative ordering of the data.

Because qualitative analysis is the product of an inductive and interpretive process in which the analyst takes on the role of ‘Researcher-as-instrument’, achieving this order is not simply a mechanical process but one which is intuitive, open-ended and creative.
