The Elizabethan period was a true ‘Golden Age’ in music: great composers like Tallis, Byrd, Gibbons and Dowland worked in a cultural environment that cherished their talents. With a host of other excellent musicians, they created works for choirs, voices, viols, lutes and keyboard that are still heard and appreciated today. No special musical training is assumed for attendees. Live music will be part of The Golden Age of Elizabethan music and culture course offered by University of Cambridge .

No academic qualifications are required and most courses are suitable for students who are new to the subject. Please ensure that you complete any required reading listed in your course materials before the course starts to enable you to fully participate and get the maximum enjoyment out of your course. 
  • If your first language is not English, you will need to satisfy yourself that you have the required near-native command of the language to get the maximum benefit from studying with us.
