Overview

TheThe Renaissance in Europe - seven cities of art and culture course offered by University of Cambridge aims to: 

  • identify how the Renaissance in art and architecture developed in each centre through the 16th century
  • demonstrate how trade, exploration and discovery resulted in cultural exchange between the various cities
  • examine the output of key artists and architects of the wider European Renaissance 

As a result of the course, you will gain a greater understanding of the subject and you should be able to: 

  • name key figures of the wider European renaissance and discuss their importance 
  • recognise the architectural style of the Renaissance in each location.
  • appreciate the role that trade and exploration played in linking the centres of the Renaissance world.

No academic qualifications are required and most courses are suitable for students who are new to the subject.
