In this Cannabis Law and Regulation course offered by York University , network and learn from Canada’s leading legal and industry minds. This is an engaging, wide-ranging curriculum that addresses everything from the very foundations of cannabis law and regulation, to the most topical issues affecting clients in all aspects of the industry today.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- Current analysis and review of the cannabis law landscape in Canada
- Assessment of the global context
- How to analyze critical issues in the business of cannabis, including:
- Lending and debt finance and registration of security interests
- Licences/transfer of licences/enforcement of loans
- M & A trends in the cannabis industry
- Investment/banking issues
- Key operational issues/challenges
- Interpretation and application of the Rules/regulations relating to packaging/labelling/marketing and promotion of cannabis and cannabis-related products
- Classes of cannabis under Schedule 4 of the Cannabis Act
- Understanding of the regulatory framework as it applies to medical cannabis
- Common occupational health and safety issues/hazards
- Recognizing social justice issues and the impact of cannabis-related advocacy
- How to best manage your cannabis licence and ensure regulatory compliance
- Tips and tricks for protecting intellectual property
