Upon completion of this Staff Training and Development course at the University of Manitoba, you should be able to:
- describe core organizational development terms, processes, concepts, and benefits
- define and characterize the major schools of thought in learning theory and motivation
- apply the key phases of the instructional systems design (ISD) model
- conduct a needs analysis of an organization to determine solutions to performance problems and identify potential associated training and development activities
- select training methods that actively engage learners and are appropriate for the content
- design a best practice learning experience by creating a training agenda including key instructional events
- explain the strategic link and the benefits, including legal requirements between organizational goals and human resource development activities
- recommend an evaluation model for a training program
