Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this Workplace Health and Safety course from University of Manitoba, you should be able to:
- apply the key components of federal and provincial legislation and regulation pertaining to workplace health and safety
- contrast the legal obligations of the employer, supervisor, and worker in workplace health and safety, including the eleven elements required by Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health legislation
- analyze the system and function of the Workers Compensation Board, disability-case management, and return to work programs
- produce a workplace safety audit that includes hazard recognition, risk assessment, and control of physical, chemical, biological, and psychosocial hazards
- demonstrate ways to reduce workplace bullying and violence in the workplace
- apply the principles of injury protection and the four basic rights of workers
- assess workplace wellness programs and their impact in the workplace
- use guidelines and best practices to establish a workplace health and safety committee
