What you will study
The Land workshop offered by Brock University is for non-Indigenous people who are new to preparing a land acknowledgement for their own use and need to know what considerations comprise creating a land acknowledgement such as who should be consulted, what knowledges need to be considered, language and treaty considerations and much more.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- Outline the process and stakeholders for creating a Land Acknowledgement
- Review the treaties and lands for which the Land Acknowledgement will address
- How to write a meaningful Land Acknowledgement
- Determine when to offer and have Land Acknowledgements available
- Determine where to add in geographical considerations and appropriate applications
- Outline guidelines for offering Land Acknowledgements in your place of work/business
- Reflect critically about the purpose of Land Acknowledgements
