Overview

The scope of the London History and Culture in Image and Film programme from  Queen Mary University of London will be by period and locale with directed and self-directed study, so you are able to follow your own interests; history, politics, music, fashion, cinema, art, literature. This is a summer course for those who want to learn about London by seeing and experiencing it. The teaching will focus your research skills and your practical skills in photography and writing though practice-based workshops in photography, journalism and creative writing.

  • You must be 18 years of age or older to join the summer school.
  • You must have completed High School. We will accept a high school qualification from most countries. Depending on the grading system we would look for the equivalent of an average grade of 70 - 75%, 3.3 GPA or a B+ average.
  • If you are already at University and your home institution uses the four-point Grade Point Average (GPA) scale, we usually require a cumulative 3.0 GPA
  • If your home institution uses the letter scale, we normally require a B+ average
  • If your home institution uses the UK scale, we usually require a 2:1 minimum
  • If your home institution uses a percentage scale, we usually require 65% to 85% average and this will vary by country
  • An IELTS score of 7 or higher, for the majority of courses
  • An IELTS score of 6.5 or higher for science-based courses
  • A TOEFL iBT score of 92 or higher
  • CET4 - 550 or CET 6 - 493
  • A degree taught in English within the last five years*
