General requirements
Students are placed into an EAP Semester (level) by language skill level using standard English language test scores.
To avoid delays or disappointment, the College strongly encourage students to obtain their EAP placement level early in the decision-making and application process and before arrival in Canada.
Students can take a placement test at Mohawk College, or they can provide official test scores:
- Scores must not be more than one year old.
- Students may submit no more than two (2) approved English assessments per semester for placement in EAP. The same type of assessment may be submitted only one time.
- If a student’s skill scores are very widely distributed or do not include a speaking score, an EAP professor will interview the student to refine placement.
- The College reserves the right to re-test any student whose in-person skills differ significantly from reported test scores.
