Students completing this Distinction in Research program at The University of Texas at San Antonio will graduate with the designation, “Distinction in Research” on their official transcripts.
Description of the Program
The Distinction in Research Program requires that each student in collaboration with their research faculty mentor completes a research project and prepares an original extended abstract that is suitable for incorporation into a peer-reviewed publication. The students should have played a significant role in the research project and will typically be listed as the first author on an abstract and listed as a co-author on a peer-reviewed manuscript resulting from the research.Programme Structure
Curriculum includes:
- Student will obtain signatures from their Mentor verifying completion of courses (See Research Elective Form).
- Student will submit verified/signed form with a copy of the abstract along with a copy of results from the meeting where the results were presented, and a publication or the extended abstract to the Program Coordinator.
- The Program Coordinator will submit the meeting abstract and the publication or Extended Abstract to Brij B Singh, PhD, Associate Dean for Research, for review and approval.
- The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will sign and approve the Research and Elective and will forward it to the Registrar’s Office for recording.
- The Director of Research will provide the Associate Dean for Student Affairs with names of those students who will graduate with Distinction in Research.
