Medical assistants are vital members of the healthcare team, performing both administrative and clinical duties in medical offices and healthcare facilities.
- Clinical responsibilities typically include recording vital signs and patient histories, assisting with examinations, procedures, and minor surgeries, as well as performing phlebotomy, administering injections, performing EKGs, and basic laboratory tests.
- On the administrative side, duties involve scheduling appointments, greeting and registering patients, managing patient records, and processing insurance documentation.
