Overview
Griffith Institute of Language offers year-round, pre-sessional and in-sessional English for Academic Purposes at Griffith College for those learners looking to study at degree level who do not yet meet the language requirements.
Career Progression
Competence in the English Language is a requirement in most professions in Ireland, as well as abroad. Successful completion of a Griffith Institute of Language (GIL) English for Academic Purposes Programme will give students an advantage in whatever career path they choose to pursue.

General requirements
Students who are interested in completing an Academic Programme with Griffith College will need to meet the English Language Entry Requirements as follows:
- For Postgraduate Programmes in Journalism, the CEFRL Level required is C1. The IELTS Equivalent required is 7.0 or above.
- For Postgraduate Programmes in Law, the CEFRL Level required is B2+. The IELTS Equivalent required is 6.5 or above.
- For all other Postgraduate Programme, the CEFRL Level required is B2+. The IELTS Equivlent required is 6.5 or above. Entry with Language Support is possible for learners at CEFRL Level B2 (IELTS 6.0).
- For Undergrduate Programmes in Law, the CEFRL level required is B2+. The IELTS Equivalent required is 6.5 or above.
- For Undergraduate Programmes in Journalism - Stage 1, the CEFRL Level required is B2+. The IELTS Equivalent required is 6.5 or above. Entry with Language Support is possible for learners at CEFRL Level B2 (IELTS 6.0).
