Come and explore the versatility of the flute in this Flute Day with Carla Rees workshop led by Carla Rees, Professor of Low Flutes and Contemporary Flute at the Royal Academy of Music.

Overview

The Flute Day with Carla Rees workshop at Royal Academy of Music will provide a chance to try out some of Carla’s arrangements for flute ensemble, explore the potential of low flutes, work on technique and sound production and enjoy playing with others in one of the Academy’s performance spaces.

Course preparation

  • If you would like to perform in a masterclass, please prepare a piece of unaccompanied repertoire on any size of flute.
  • Please bring any flutes you’d like to play on the day, along with any questions or problems you’d like to solve on the day.

  • Develop areas of technique including tone production, understanding resonance, posture and hand positions
  • Gain experience of playing relatively challenging ensemble repertoire
  • Build ensemble-playing skills
