History

The Academy was founded in 1822, and ever since has trained versatile and resourceful musicians with the skills they need in the ever-changing profession.

Research

Research at the Academy is focused on the interrogation of musical creativity. This takes many forms, but a common thread running through our work is the interaction of performers, composers, instrument makers and scholars.

Student services

Help and advice for International Students

All new students are formally welcomed to the Royal Academy of Music in the Enrolment Week before the start of full term. During Enrolment Week there will be opportunities to meet your department administrator and senior members of the academic staff including Tutors.

Housing services

International Students’ House is a few minutes’ walk from the Academy. It offers accommodation to international students during the academic year as well as short-stay accommodation. There are also numerous social facilities including a bar and restaurant, which Academy students are welcome to use whether or not they are resident at the House.

Medical services

Paddington Green Health Centre

Paddington Green is a general practice that provides treatment and advice for most ailments, injuries (including performance-related injuries) and ill health. It also offers help and advice relating to chronic illness and disabilities and offers access to psychological support as appropriate.

Royal academy of music

One of the most prestigious music universities in the world. World class faculty, facilities, and opportunities. It is sadly very expensive as it is in the centre of London!
