By the end of this Introduction to Corporate Insolvency course at BPP University you will be able to:
- Understand the key sources of corporate insolvency law and terminology
- Explain what insolvency means and why it matters for companies and directors
- Distinguish between compulsory liquidation, creditors’ voluntary liquidation and members’ voluntary liquidation
- Understand the purpose and process of administration, including the moratorium
- Recognise the role and powers of the Official Receiver and insolvency practitioners
- Understand creditor types and how the order of priority works
- Identify transactions that can be challenged (e.g. transactions at an undervalue, preferences)
- Recognise key director duties and risks such as wrongful trading
