About

The Practice Educator Training - Stage 2 course at the University of Bedfordshire builds on the knowledge and skills developed in Stage 1 and is designed for practitioners who are ready to take full responsibility for the teaching, supervision, and assessment of social work students.

Overview

Features

The Practice Educator Training - Stage 2 course at the University of Bedfordshire deepens participants’ ability to apply the BASW Practice Educator Professional Standards (PEPS) at a more advanced level, with a strong focus on professional judgement, evidence-informed assessment, and the ability to manage increasingly complex learning situations.

The course strengthens confidence in working with a wide range of learners, supporting progression, and making robust assessment decisions that stand up to scrutiny.

It also develops the educator’s capacity to integrate theory, research, and reflective practice into supervision, while contributing to quality assurance processes that uphold high standards in practice learning.

Programme Structure

Course outcomes include:

  • Demonstrate a deep knowledge and critical understanding of communities of practice, relational pedagogy, and the Stage 2 Practice Educator role within qualifying and post-qualifying Social Work education
  • Using learner feedback received in Stage 1 to provide an effective work-based learning opportunity for a second learner that demonstrates collaboration with your community of practice
