Overview
During the process of transition to extra–uterine life, a newborn will experience the most complex and dynamic physiological adaptation. For most newborns babies the transition is uneventful yet about 10% of all babies born will experience a degree of physiological compromise.
Aims
This Neonatal Care course at the University of Bedfordshire is designed to ensure that health care professionals develop the skills required to care for sick newborns within the acute setting.
Programme Structure
This course will:
- Equip the student with the knowledge and skills required to deliver care for the premature and/or sick newborn infant and their family within the acute and community environment
- Prepare you to deliver complex care and therapies to the premature and/or sick neonate working as part of a multidisciplinary team and with the families
- Develop the skills of critical analysis to ensure evidence-based practice care is delivered
- Develop the skills of reflection that support lifelong learning, and career progression
