Overview
By the end of the five days of the Leather Sewing Skills course from University of the Arts London (UAL), you will have made a pack of stitch samples and be confident in using a range of sewing machines. You will also create a fabric bag to keep all your samples in.

- To start, you will learn how to identify different types of sewing machines both industrial and domestic and have an understanding of what each type of machine is used for.
- You will understand the threading sequence and bobbin winding methods for each machine. You will then progress to learning a range of stitch techniques.

- Threading of a cylinder arm machine, a post machine and a flatbed machine
- Know the difference, benefits and limitations of all of the above
- Look at and use different feet and their uses
- Understand thread types and needle sizes
- Be able to trouble shoot and correct common machine faults
- Understand machine maintenance and ways to avoid major faults occurring
