On a bright October day in 1964, Lyndon Baines Johnson, 36th President of the United States, squinted into the South Florida sun and, in his famous Texas drawl, declared Florida Atlantic University officially open.

Student services

Florida Atlantic University is serving a record high student body of 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students at sites throughout its six-county service region in Southeast Florida. Ten distinguished colleges offer more than 180 degree programs in fields that span the arts and humanities, the sciences, medicine, nursing, accounting, business, education, public administration, social work, architecture, engineering, computer science and more. Academically accomplished students take advantage of honors programs on the Boca Raton campus and the complete, four-year honors curriculum offered by the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College on the Jupiter campus.

Housing services

The Boca Raton campus is home to more than 4,000 on-campus residents in nine apartment and suite-style residence halls. The University delivers impactful, residence hall-based programming through which students develop skills for lifelong learning.

Medical services

Understanding that health and wellness are vital to academic success, FAU offers a wide range of resources including award-winning peer education and health promotion programs. In addition to its facilities and classes, Campus Rec hosts intramural and club sports, as well as an outdoor adventures program that takes students on excursions throughout the country.

Campus life

More than 70 percent of FAU's 30,000 students take classes at FAU's first and largest campus and the majority of the University's 175+ degree programs are based here. Located just three miles from the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful beaches of Boca Raton, the campus features everything you expect from a modern university -- suite-style housing for nearly 4,000 students, brand-new athletics and recreational facilities, art galleries, a cafe/movie theater complex and so much more -- all in a vibrant, tropical setting with a student body that is the most diverse of all of Florida's public universities.
