King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) can trace its origin to the Thonburi Technology Institute (TTI) which was established on February 4, 1960 by the Department of Vocational Education, Ministry of Education. TTI has as its objective the training of technicians, technical instructors and technologists.
KMUTT has signed the Academic Agreement with over than 130 universities/ institutes abroad with the objective of promoting cooperation in the fields of education and academic research. The activities under the Agreement are such as collaborative research, lectures, symposiums, the exchange of information and materials, researchers as well as undergraduate and graduate students, etc.The student exchange program is a unique opportunity to add to the studies in university. Students will experience different knowledge, life and culture. This will benefit students to have better professional life in the future.
One of the visions of KMUTT is “To Head towards Excellence in Research and Technology”. To realize this vision the university will engage in its research missions and use the research output to create new knowledge and innovations for the development of Thai society. With this research mission in creating new contributions, the created knowledge should have 3 beneficial aspects: benefit to academic research, benefit to society or the public, and benefit to the economy. The objective to create core capability and excellence in academic research will increase this nation’s capacity to compete in the global arena, changing Thailand into a knowledge society with sustained development.

KMUTT Residence is priority served for full-time undergraduate students. Our on campus residence, separated by gender can occupy about 1,300 students for Bangmod Campus and 500 students for Bangkhunthien Campus. KMUTT Library is a central office administering the library and information technology to support the university’s missions in providing education, encouraging research, developing study techniques, and rendering academic services to society. The KMUTT Library and Information Center was established on May 5, 1988 (B.E.2531) and the name change to KMUTT Library was approved on October 19, 2000.
KMUTT Health Service Section serves the medical needs to KMUTT students and staff. Many services are available at no additional charge to students and staff who walk-in without appointments on a first-come-first-serve basis. Meanwhile, we have a contract with 2 hospital network: Bangpakok Hospital and Rajburana Hospital.
This 52 acre campus is located on the west side of Bangkok, embraced with Bangkok Metropolitan Park and Youth Center. It is the main campus of KMUTT. It houses Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology, School of Energy, Environment and Materials, School of Information Technology, School of Liberal Arts, the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment, Graduate School of Management and Innovation, Institute of Field Robotics, Institute for Scientific and Technological Research and Services, Computer Center and KMUTT Library.
