History

Founded in 1967 following the passage of a voter referendum, Moraine Valley Community College has a tradition of providing area residents a quality education at an affordable cost. The college is one of the largest in the state of Illinois and has seen consistent enrollment growth through the decades. 

Education

Moraine Valley offers associate degree and certificate programs designed to meet the needs of students who intend to transfer and earn a bachelor’s degree or who desire to enter the workforce upon graduation. The college’s academic programs prepare students for the fastest growing jobs in Cook County, the greater Chicago area and the nation. Moraine Valley also offers college readiness and developmental education courses as well as a variety of noncredit offerings for personal or professional enrichment.

Career

The mission of the Job Resource Center is to connect students, alumni, and community members to job and internship opportunities.

Our mission is accomplished by providing comprehensive education of employment issues, excellent employer relations, job and internship listings, individual student and alumni appointments, workshops, job and internship fairs and other career-related events to enhance the successful pursuit of employment and internship opportunities.

Student services

Moraine Valley helps each student meet his or her personal, educational and career goals by providing students with excellent support services designed to facilitate student learning, development and success. The multitude of services offered at Moraine Valley help students find personal and academic mentors, engage in the campus community, move along the path to degree or certificate completion, and so much more.

Library services

Librarians are always available when the Library is open to assist students with their research, citations, writing and information needs in person, online or by phone. The Library provides a variety of services and resources to help students attain educational goals. Resources include online databases, books, ebooks, streaming media collections, DVDs, textbook collections, and course reserves. The Library also offers individual and group study spaces, anatomy models, calculators, iPads, and laptops for a limited check-out period, as well as over 100 desktop computers for students to use on campus.

ICT services

Moraine Valley is committed to incorporating innovative technology throughout our campus. We provide our students with opportunities to learn on the actual equipment they will use in the workplace, and we equip our classrooms with technology designed to increase student engagement and learning. To that end, the college has developed a Strategic Technology Plan to guide its efforts.

Sports facilities

Intramural Sports is a great way to stay fit and compete with other students on campus and interact with FitRec members! The Moraine Valley Intramural Sports program is open to students and faculty/staff, regardless of physical ability or skill level and FitRec Members. Guest are not permitted to participate. The program provides an opportunity for all to participate in individual, dual, and team sports at various levels of competition.

Student clubs

Moraine Valley Student Life is proud to oversee a wide variety of student clubs and organizations that appeal to a wide variety of interests. There is something for everyone, and we’re launching new clubs based on student requests every year.
