History
In 1960, Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) was established in the southeast industrial area of Beijing, bearing the mission of providing the capital with engineering talents to serve the new high-level, high-precision and advanced industrial system.
Education
Currently, BJUT has 3 national key disciplines, 21 Beijing municipal key disciplines, 64 undergraduate programs, 33 master’s degree programs, 20 doctoral degree programs and 18 post-doctoral research centers. 8 disciplines entered Top 500 of the 2019 QS World University Rankings by Subject. 5 disciplines including Chemistry, Materials Sciences, Engineering and Environment, Computer Science entered Top 1% of the ESI Rankings.
Research
By adhering to the scientific and technological development concept of “High-level Scientific Research Supporting High-quality Higher Education”, and the development policy of "Collaborative Innovation, High-end Guidance and Service to Beijing", BJUT promotes the construction of internationally renowned, characteristic and high-level research universities with solid and distinctive scientific research. The University attaches great importance to basic research, applied research and high-tech research and development, and vigorously promotes the transformation of achievements. The overall scientific and technological strength continues to increase.

Library services
The Main Campus Library commenced trial operation in September 2019, with an overall floor area of over 40,000 square meters and 3,000 seats, and the Tongzhou Campus Library has a floor space of over 2,000 square meters and 500 seats.
