Overview
About the course
The Model Making for Furniture Design Workshop at the University of the Arts London (UAL) is workshop based and will start with drawing and sketch model making skills in order to develop your creative ideas. You will then develop your designs further by exploring different materials and processes, scales, proportions, compositions and artistic options to focus in on your core final design.
You will start to work in scale and where possible test proportions/principles at 1:1 scale before producing a final scaled presentation model of your designs. There is also an excellent materials library at your disposal, as reference.
Taken as a stand-alone course the program aims to aid applications for designer making, craft design and 3D design courses, or combined with Furniture Design for Beginners courses to develop an advanced level in furniture design to aid professional practice, or to lead on to a degree in the subject in Product or Furniture Design
