Overview

This Care of the Critically Unwell Woman workshop at Anglia Ruskin University will enable you to develop your knowledge and skills to effectively care for the critically unwell woman during the child bearing continuum.

Features

You’ll learn from a team of multidisciplinary specialists, through a variety of student-centered teaching and learning strategies and we’ll promote practice learning opportunities through simulation in our state of the art skills lab.

Work-based learning recognises professional expertise, so you will care for women with high dependency needs in your clinical practice - you’ll have a dedicated practice document to support your further, optional skills development.

The workshop will cover the following topics:
  • The altered physiology of pregnancy
  • Recognising deterioration in the pregnant woman and escalation
  • Oxygenation, hypoxia and acidosis
  • Fluid and electrolyte balance
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Haemodynamic and ECG monitoring
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis care
  • Haemorrhage and shock management
  • Sepsis and SIRS management
  • Ethical and legal issues in critical care
