University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg's Basic Research Skills short course aims to develop students’ skills in gathering and processing of information. It will develop their critical reading and research skills. It will prepare them for doing assignments and writing reports at the required level.

General requirements
Mature age applicants (older than 23 years) who did not obtain a complete exemption. They should have passed Matric or National Senior Certificate (NSC), English on Higher Grade or NSC with at least a D symbol, and three other subjects with at least D symbol.
