Dante’s Purgatorio has been a source of fascination for a wide range of modern writers, including but not limited to both Samuel Beckett and Seamus Heaney. No knowledge of Dante’s Inferno (or other writing) is required, although students may enjoy reading the first section of the poem while preparing for this All smiles - discovering Dante's Purgatorio course offered by University of Cambridge .
